Provigil for sleeping disorders

When talking about sleep disorders people always tend to think only about those of them that concern nighttime problems with sleep. Insomnia is the most widespread sleep disorder that nearly all people experience every now and then. However it may come as a surprise to many that there are actually other types of sleep disorders that are characterized by excessive or out of place periods of sleep that impede normal activity. These include narcolepsy, hypersomnia, work shift sleep disorder and daytime sleepiness caused by sleep apnea. All these conditions are associated with the feeling of sleepiness and inability to concentrate during the period of time when the patient is supposed to be awake. So how does one deal with sleep disorders when there's too much sleep to deal with?

It's obvious that you would need a drug to eliminate sleepiness in order to overcome such disorders. Central nervous system stimulants such as Provigil are the perfect choice for treating sleep disorders characterized by excessive sleepiness. While the use of these drugs would contradict the treatment of ordinary sleep disorders like insomnia, where additional stimulation is harmful, with excessive sleepiness it's necessary to keep the nervous system excited during periods of wakefulness in order to eliminate sleepiness and drowsiness. Provigil does exactly what is required by affecting certain neurotransmitters in the brain and shifting the nervous system to an alert state.

In contrast to common stimulants employed to promote wakefulness such as caffeine, Provigil doesn't cause abnormal excitement, fatigue and other side effects associated with the use of common stimulants. It is a prescription medication that has to be taken on a regular basis in the morning and its dosage is strictly regulated to provide the required effect without the risk of experiencing any unpleasant symptoms. Keep in mind that the purpose of this medication is not to promote excessive excitement and over activeness but to eliminate abnormal sleepiness that impedes normal activity during periods of being awake.

Excessive sleep can be a serious problem that may affect many aspects of your life. Constant drowsiness will directly affect your productivity, which may pose a serious thread to your career if lasts for a long period of time. Not to mention that sudden sleep and inability to react properly may pose a serious threat to your health and life while performing hazardous activities such as driving a vehicle or operating complex machinery. So make sure to consult with your doctor as soon as possible when first signs of such sleep disorders take place.
